Watch the BIRTH of an Emerging Movement

The 7 Graces Global Conference - London and Live Stream

The 7 Graces Global Conference (7GGC) in June 2012 was neither a trade show nor a training event. It was a physical and virtual gathering of an emerging worldwide community of business owners, marketers, media professionals, journalists, eco-citizens and conscious consumers who are passionate about creating a paradigm shift away from big (and bigger) business, and towards a more holistic and sustainable model for commerce that is kinder to our health, our communities, our economy and our planet.

Because we wanted the dialogue to be truly GLOBAL,
people attended the event both in person and via Interactive Live Stream.

True to our intent, this was not a one-off conference, but the beginning of a long-term vision. Within HOURS of the completion of this event, the participants formed a Facebook Community called ‘The 7 Graces Global Garden.‘ Since then, the group has organically grown from a few dozen to several hundred highly-active members. We meet as a community most months, and we always include an online component, to ensure we are truly a global community (come join our 7 Graces Global Community on MeetUp to attend these meetings).

Inspired by our evolving community, in 2013 we established the 7 Graces Project, CIC, a not-for-profit social enterprise whose aim is to train, support, mentor and inspire independent business owners to market their business ethically, serve society and planet, and restore all that is best about humanity. As of this writing (in June 2013) we are currently beta testing our 7 Graces Ethical Marketing training programme with a small pilot group. We aim to be able to share this course with the public in late 2013, and have further plans to create a certification programme that can offer worldwide recognition to independent business owners who are committed to ethical marketing.

What are ‘The 7 Graces’?

Taken from the book The 7 Graces of Marketing: how to heal humanity and the planet by changing the way we sell by author Lynn Serafinn, The 7 Graces are a set of values and principles intended to provide a guideline or model for our business and marketing, and indeed our lives in general. In this paradigm, each ‘Grace’ is set against its corresponding ‘Deadly Sin’:

  1. Connection vs. Disconnection
  2. Inspiration vs. Persuasion
  3. Invitation vs. Invasion
  4. Directness vs. Distraction
  5. Transparency vs. Deception
  6. Abundance vs. Scarcity
  7. Collaboration vs. Competition

Shelagh Jones
Abundance vs. Scarcity

More About Shelagh

Shelagh Jones

Abundance vs. Scarcity

Scarcity marketing predicates the belief that resources are limited, and that we are incomplete without ‘more and better’. In this session, Shelagh will look at building the Abundance of balance, harmony and sustainability into our business models and explore new ways of measuring business success beyond monetary profit.

UK-based Shelagh Jones is a marketer, public speaker, and owner/CEO of Spiritus, the Spiritual Marketing Directory. For a long time, Shelagh noticed that many business owners weren’t effectively communicating their business’ underlying values, principles and passions to their customers. This meant their customers didn’t ‘get’ what their businesses were all about, ending up in lost sales and disappointment. So she started Spiritus, an online arena in which like-minded people whose values come first in their personal and business lives can connect with each other, forge exceptional relationships and create outstanding ideas, products and services—and marketing that works.
